Wrestling Finishes Runner-Up at Ray Steely Rogers Invitational

The Central Catholic High School wrestling team turned in a strong performance Saturday, finishing second overall at the Ray Steely Rogers Invitational on the campus of Rogers High School.

The Fighting Irish amassed 205 team points in the one-day tournament, trailing only team champion Perrysburg, which claimed the title with 243 points.

Individually, Central Catholic placed seven wrestlers on the podium, highlighted by two individual champions.  Junior Alexzander Guerra captured first place at 135 pounds, while sophomore Devin Joyner claimed the title at 190 pounds.

Three more Irish wrestlers earned runner-up finishes, including junior Brendan Zapadka (113 pounds), freshman Giovanni Aranda (120 pounds), and junior Joel Osbourne (150 pounds).  In addition, juniors Andrei Irimia (175 pounds) and Tim Crowley III (215 pounds) rounded out the scoring with third-place finishes.

Central Catholic returns to action at the Defiance Border War on Monday–Tuesday, December 29–30, hosted by Defiance High School.
