Sandy Horrigan Designated Student of the Month for December

Freshman Sandy Horrigan is a member of Student Council, the Quiz Bowl team, Mixed Chorus, the crew team, the swim team, the W.I.S.E. (Women Inspired, Self-Reliant, & Equipped) Club, and the Drama Club.  She played the part of Sinclair Hemmings, the director of the show, in Central Catholic’s recent fall play, This Murder Was Staged.  She has also earned Summa Cum Laude honors, which is awarded to students with a grade-point average of 3.90 or higher.

“I chose to attend Central Catholic because it’s a place for everyone,” she said.  “No matter who you are - your focus, your background, or your dreams - everyone at Central Catholic wants to help you achieve your goals.”

“As one of only a few freshmen in the Algebra 2 Honors class, Sandy stands out as a role model,” said Algebra teacher Karri Adler.  “She consistently demonstrates maturity and responsibility, and her thoughtful questions reflect a genuine desire to learn.”

“It is Sandy's first year as a swimmer and she has started the season strong,” said CCHS head swim coach Jamie Enderle.  “Sandy has brought consistent energy and effort as a swimmer and teammate!  She is always cheering on the other swimmers in both practice and competition.  She welcomes feedback and is always seeking to become a better swimmer.  We cannot wait to see Sandy continue to improve and reach her goals as a student-athlete.”

“My favorite thing about CCHS is the way they prioritize the whole person as opposed to just academics, which are also incredible,” Sandy explained.  “They want you to grow in ability, understanding, and faith to pursue your interests.  I am just starting my journey, and I can't wait to see where else Central Catholic will help take me.”
