Desmond Flowers Picked Student of the Month for November

Desmond Flowers is a member of the Fighting Irish football team that will be playing for their 2nd-consecutive state championship on Friday.  He is also a member of the National Honor Society and the Insignis Society, which is made up of the high achieving students that are ranked in the Top 10, 11, and 12 of the sophomore, junior, and senior classes, respectively.  Desmond serves as a Student Ambassador for Central Catholic.

Outside of CCHS, Desmond belongs to Toledo Church of Christ, and he participates in community service projects such as clothing drives, Trunk or Treat, and fundraisers for the Discovery Academy of Toledo.

“I chose to attend Central Catholic because it has the best football program in the state!” Desmond said.  “But beyond that, my family and I really like the culture, the people, and the family environment of the school.  I am from Sylvania, and I went to Arbor Hills Junior High.  Students from that school don’t usually come to Central Catholic, but I really wanted to come here, and it’s been a great experience.”

“Desmond is a very diligent student who puts his academics first,” said Patrice Brock, Desmond’s Anatomy and Physiology teacher.  “He is the true example of a student-athlete.  In addition to his performance in the classroom and on the field, Desmond always has the most positive attitude in the room.  He is a great addition to any class.”

“Desmond is a great athlete, but more importantly, he is a great person,” said CCHS head football coach Greg Dempsey.  “He considers himself a student first and foremost.”

After high school, Desmond would like to study forensic psychology or something in the medical field.  He plans to apply to Yale or Colgate, and he hopes to play football in college as well.
