Layla Laytart Picked Student of the Month for February

Junior Layla Laytart is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, the Spanish Club, and the W.I.S.E (Women Inspired, Self-Reliant, & Equipped) Club.  She plays volleyball and lacrosse.  Outside of school, she works at Focaccia’s restaurant and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

“I chose Central Catholic because of the unconditional love that all of the teachers and staff show daily,” Layla said.  “I have gotten a great education, and my mind has really been opened during my time here.”

“Layla brings a spirit of excitement and joy to class that lifts others and brightens the room,” said Hank Wetzel, American Government teacher.

“Miss Laytart is not only a delight to have as a student, or a player, she is a delight to know,” said Angelina Mendieta (Class of 2019), Spanish teacher and assistant girls’ lacrosse coach.  “Her optimism and attitude brighten the day of those around her.  A room with Layla in it is a room with encouragement, respect, and cheer.  Her inclination to encourage those around her, and to bring light to situations is an attribute not everyone strives to have, but Layla does this with ease.  Her pride in her school, community, and culture brings joy to me and many others.”

“Layla comes to class with such a positive attitude!” added Patrice Brock, Anatomy & Physiology teacher, AP Biology teacher, and head lacrosse coach.  “She brings an energy that makes everyone around her want to do their best.  She does not shy away from a challenge but embraces it as another opportunity to learn.  Layla is an amazing asset to our classes every day.”

After high school, Layla would like to attend Ohio State University to major in psychology and minor in communications and become a psychologist.  She explained, “I believe that minoring in communications will not only advance my gift from God to make connections with others and embrace my bubbly personality, but it will help me go far in life, especially with the time we live in where social media ruins communication and conversations with others.”
